NEW BERLIN —
BLOOMSBURG — Jessie Morgan, 10, who won Tuesday night’s fiddle contest at the Bloomsburg Fair, is no stranger to playing on stage with her siblings and parents as part of The Morgan Family.
But performing solo, the Fishers Ferry resident said, “gave me butterflies in my stomach. I was very nervous.”
She was halfway into her second number, “Danny Boy,” when it began to dawn on her that the crowd was loving her music.
“Then, I was all smiles,” she said after being named winner. “Even now, I can’t stop smiling.”
Jessie, a sixth-grader at Trevorton Elementary, said she picked “Danny Boy” as one of her three songs because she often played it with her violin teacher, and they thought it would be perfect for the Bloomsburg Fair contest.
The competition was difficult, said her father, David.
“There were six other fiddlers in the competition” he said. “But Jessie did very well. I mean, she won. The crowd really warmed up to her and her playing.”
Added Jessie: “I want to thank my dad for everything he taught me.”

In fan fiction, your favorite characters do what you want them to
When J.J. Abrams took over the "Star Trek" franchise in 2009, he boldly went where the series hadn't gone before — romantically — pairing Uhura with Spock. Many fans disliked the change. Some loved it. Others didn't care, because they just wanted to see Kirk and Spock make out.
