ELIZABETHVILLE —
Austin A. Weaver and Ian Buffington spearheaded the Upper Dauphin offense, as both surpassed 100 yards on the ground and found the endzone in a 41-0 win over Pine Grove on Friday night, giving coach Brent Bell his first win.
Weaver called his own number with three minutes gone in the opening quarter, racing 31 yards for a touchdown to cap a seven-play drive. After the Trojans defense forced a three-and-out, Buffington took matters into his own hands, pounding the ball in from one yard out after three straight runs had the Trojans knocking on the doorstep.
With the way the Trojans were clicking offensively, not even a touchdown-negating penalty could stop the flow of Weaver and company. After a 64-yard touchdown pass from Weaver to Campbell was called back, the Trojans regrouped and scored six plays later on a 19-yard run from Weaver, his second of the night to push the lead to 21-0. Campbell and Weaver connected again midway through the second quarter as Campbell broke loose from the Cardinals defense, running 53 yards to the end zone.
