Conservation District announces annual tree sale

SUNBURY — The Northumberland County Conservation District’s 43rd annual Tree Sale has begun. The deadline

for orders is April 1. Tree varieties to be sold include evergreens, fruit trees, deciduous trees, ornamental trees and bushes. Along with a large variety of trees, spring flowers will also be sold.

Dave Crowl, chairman of the Northumberland County Conservation District, said, “Our annual tree sale is a great opportunity to reach out to county residents and encourage the important act of planting trees. Our sale provides a diverse selection of both natives and non-natives to honor requests we’ve received over the past 43 years.”

The Northumberland County Conservation District was formed in 1943 under the Conservation District Law, and is a subdivision of state government. This district is one of 66 Conservation Districts throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Individuals supporting the annual Tree Sale not only benefit the environment, but also reinforce the important work of this organization that serves the agricultural community and works with municipalities, contractors, schools, and watershed groups.

Order forms for the 2013 Tree Sale are available by contacting the Conservation District office at

Orders must be received by April 1 and availability is limited for some species. Payment is due with the order, and can be made via check, money order, or credit card. Items are available for pick up

April 24-25 at the Rockefeller Township Building, located on Seven Points Road off of Route 890 south of Sunbury.
