SUNBURY — Rachel Dailey, 16, a junior at Shikellamy High School, has been selected to be a representative in the People to People Student Ambassador Program this summer.
Her trip will begin in Fiji at a school where she will be helping children with their studies. She will then travel to New Zealand to talk with people from their government and learn how it differs and is similar to ours. This is also where she will do a home stay. From there she will fly to Australia to tour the well known Sydney Opera House enjoying the unique architecture and learning about the rich history and theater. She will then explore the marine life by snorkeling over the Great Barrier Reef. The final stop is to Cairns to learn the science of surfing and the chance to test what she has learned.
This 22 day trip will cost over $9,000 and includes transportation, accommodations, meals and educational activities. She will be hosting multiple fundraising projects at her church, school, and throughout the community. Donations can be made at the Susquehanna Bank under Rachel Dailey “Trip Fund”, or contact her directly at 1155 Hillside Dr., Sunbury, PA 17801, phone, 988-6810.
