SUNBURY - A city street was shut down Thursday morning as crews worked to clean up after a disposal truck's hydraulic fluid line burst.
About 30 to 40 gallons of hydraulic fluid spilled on Court Street, behind the Hotel Edison, at about 11:30 a.m. when the hydraulic fluid line broke on a disposal truck that was loading along the street, said Sunbury code enforcement officer Mike Rhoads.
"There was no stopping it," he said. "It emptied."
Crews worked to clean up the spill by using absorbent material to soak up the fluid for disposal, Rhoads said. The absorbent material would also be used following the clean up to make sure the road was in safe condition.
"We want to make sure it's not slick or anything," Rhoads said.
There were no environmental or safety concerns stemming from the spill, Rhoads said.
