SELINSGROVE — The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has approved Selinsgrove borough’s plans to repair the Isle of Que boat ramp, but the work is still on hold until the state Department of Environmental Protection issues necessary permits.
The Borough Council received the update Monday night, but remain frustrated by the lack of progress.
The South Front Street boat ramp has been closed to the public for two years.
It was built in 2008 with an $88,000 state grant and shut down a few years later for failing to meet state requirements and posing a safety hazard.
The Fish and Boat Commission has provided the borough an additional $40,000 for the repairs, but they can’t be done until DEP provides the permits to begin the work.
Borough Manager Paul Williams said state Sen. John Gordner, R-27 of Berwick, is tracking the progress.
Darwin Swope, a legislative aide to state Rep. Fred Keller, R-85 of Kreamer, said his office has received several calls about the boat ramp.
“People just want to put their boat in the water,” said council member Erik Viker, asking Swope to get Keller involved in resolving the matter.
