FREEBURG — Christmas festivities are planned for Saturday in the Freeburg Community Center.
The second annual Christmas in Freeburg event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. and feature a visit by St. Nick, storytelling, carriage rides and arts and crafts.
“It’s a good event and has the spirit of friendship,” said Gary Klingler, president of the Freeburg Fire Company, which is co-hosting the evening with the Freeburg-Washington Township Recreation Association.
Santa Claus is scheduled to make an appearance at 7.
Other events will include children storytelling at 6:30 and 7:30; carriage and fire truck rides through town; and free hot chocolate, hot cider and cookies.
Other events will be held that night in other locations, including a live nativity scene at Freeburg United Methodist Church from 6 to 8 and an open house with organ music at Freeburg Lutheran Church from 7 to 8.
Klingler said prizes for best decorated home and door will be presented. Prizes include $25 and meal gift certificates.
“The event was well-attended last year, and we hope people come out this year. I think it gives people pride in their community,” he said.
