MIDDLEBURG — Zachery Boyer was presented the Eagle Scout award recently during a ceremony at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 509, and the son of Angela and Keith Rice, assistant scoutmaster, and Chris Boyer, all of Middleburg.
Zachery began his scouting career in September 2004 as a Wolf Cub with Lewisburg Cub Pack 3509. He became a Boy Scout with Troop 509 in September 2007. Zachery held various positions of responsibility in the troop including assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader, and troop guide.
He is a member of the Woapeau Sisilija Lodge, Order of the Arrow, becoming a Brotherhood member in July 2010.
Zachery’s Eagle project consisted of planning and gathering materials for the construction of platforms for the tents at Oasis Campsite. He organized a work party consisting of fellow scouts, scout leaders and family to help complete his project.
Zachery is a sophomore at Midd-West High School. He is involved in the Science Olympiad, Outdoors Club, and History of Rock and Roll Club. He plans to earn his pilots license and be an aviation inspector.
