SUNBURY —
SUNBURY — Art students from Valley schools will have their creative works displayed in state Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver’s district office during March.
Dozens of pieces of art made by students in all of Danville’s schools will be shown, along with works from eight districts and private schools. An open house will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday in Culver’s office at 106 Arch St.
Five students from Danville High School will have oil paintings presented as part of the showing, which will include prizes for exceptional works. Senior Madison Fazio’s painting is of her family’s yellow Labrador, Riley. It originally was intended as a Christmas gift for her parents, but will be displayed at Culver’s office and later this year in the Packwood House Museum, Lewisburg. “It’s pretty cool and exciting,” Fazio said.
Also showing oil paintings will be Danville sophomore Abbey Meredick, senior Jolene Stassel, sophomore Justin Phillips and junior Kirsten Keppler.
This will be the third year that Culver will host the legislative art show, according to show organizers.
Catering at the open house will be provided by students from SUN Area Technical Institute, New Berlin.
Other participating school districts include Milton, Warrior Run, Line Mountain and Shikellamy. Private schools showing art are Northumberland Christian, Meadowview Christian, Meadowbrook Christian and Watsontown Christian. Sunbury Christian has been invited.
