MIFFLINBURG -- The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for January. Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning. At the awards assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
McKenzie Dreese, sixth grade, is a daughter of Stacey Moyer and Matt Dreese, of Millmont. In school, science is her favorite subject, and she is a member of the band and the chorus. McKenzie plays the piano, and enjoys soccer, cross country running, and playing outside. In the future she would like to be a teacher or work in a school.
Gabe De Facis, seventh grade, is a son of Gordon and Lisa De Facis, of Mifflinburg. Social studies and algebra are his favorite subjects in school where he is a member of TSA and plays soccer, basketball, and cross country. He is also a member of the North Union United Soccer Club. He enjoys running 5Ks, competing in triathlons, biking and also likes listening to music. In the future Gabe would like to be a roller coaster engineer.
Hannah Showalter, eighth grade, is a daughter of Lori Jo and David Showalter, of Laurelton. Art and tech-ed are her favorite subjects in school. She is a member of the National Junior Honors Society at school, the Reality Youth Group, and goes to ballet. Other things Hannah enjoys doing are hunting, camping, running, reading, listening to music, and spending time with her friends. In the future she would like to be a registered murse or a police officer.
