Milton Area Kindergarten and First Grade Registration

MILTON — Registration for all pupils of the Milton Area School District entering kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school term will be held on Feb. 25 through March 1. Hours for registration are from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and are by appointment only. Parents should note that children will be administered a short screening test and must be present for registration. Appointments to register must be made by calling the Baugher Elementary Office at 742-7631 as soon as possible.

The entrance age for kindergarten children is age five prior to Sept. 1. At the time of registration, parents must present one of the following: birth certificate, baptismal certificate showing date of birth, a notarized statement indicating birth date, or any duly certified transcript of birth. A record of immunizations now required by state law must also be presented at registration. The child’s social security card is also required for registration.

Any child without complete registration information including birth certificate or immunizations prior to the first day of the 2013-2014 school year will not be allowed to enter school. Room assignments will be made in August when parents will be informed via letter. A short orientation for students and parents will be held approximately one week before school begins.

First grade registration will also be held Feb. 25 through March 1, for any child eligible to enter first grade and who has not attended kindergarten this school year. The entrance age for children entering first grade is age six prior to Sept. 1. This does not apply to children already in kindergarten and who will continue into first grade next year. All other requirements and information is necessary for first grade registration as for kindergarten.
