DANVILLE — The Danville FFA will collect nonperishable foods during Food Check-Out Week.
For more than 10 years, the chapter has held an annual food drive for the Danville Ronald McDonald House as part of this observance.
Collections will be held Feb. 11-15 at all four Danville Area School District buildings.
At the Danville Primary School, Liberty Valley Intermediate School and the Danville Middle School, collections will be accepted in homerooms all week from Feb. 11-15. The homeroom at each building with the most food collected will be honored with a pizza party, sponsored by the Montour County Farm Bureau.
At Danville Area High School, food will be received in agricultural science classrooms throughout the entire week. At the end of the week, there will be a random drawing of all students who made a donation to the Ronald McDonald House. The winner of the drawing will receive a $50 prepaid Visa card.
Others can get involved at the Danville-Selinsgrove boys’ basketball game Feb. 13. Anyone bringing any type of nonperishable food item to the basketball game will get a $1 off of admission to the game.
During Food Check-Out Week, donations are collected around the state for Ronald McDonald Houses and food pantries.
The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau observes the special week to thank farmers for an abundant, affordable and safe food supply,
