Millersburg Area High School Students of the Month for January

The Daily Item

MILLERSBURG -- The faculty of the Millersburg Area High School has named Carly Smith and Dawson Schlegel as Students of the Month for January. These students are selected because they exemplify outstanding qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their school, home and community. This program is sponsored by the Millersburg Rotary Club.

Smith is the daughter of Leslie and Donald Smith, of Millersburg. She is a member of the marching band, concert band, jazz band, county band, chorus, county chorus, youth and government, SADD, Mass Communications Club, Careers in Health Club, ski club and conservation club. She is section leader in band, vice president of Archery Club, vice president of Mass Communications Club, secretary of the senior class, secretary of National Honor Society, secretary of Careers in Health Club, and treasurer of youth and government. She has participated in the high school musicals and will be the Fairy Godmother in the upcoming musical “Cinderella”. Upon graduation, she plans to attend Penn State University majoring in chemistry with a minor in pre-med.

Schlegel is the son of Dawn and David Schlegel, of Millersburg. He is a member of the basketball team, football team, ski club, conservation club, SADD and was selected as a Camp Hebron counselor. Upon graduation, he plans to attend Penn State University majoring in engineering.
