NORTHUMBERLAND — Park amenities at “The Point” at Pineknotter Park and on continuing The North Branch Canal Trail from Danville to Northumberland will be the agenda topics at a public opinion meeting being held by the non-profit group 17857.org at 7 p.m. March 13 at the Townside Too, 253 Front St., Northumberland.
The Borough of Northumberland plans to submit a grant application to DCNR to construct a trail on top of the erosion barrier that will be built around the Point this fall. Other park upgrades are also a possibility. Point Township is considering submitting a grant application to DCNR for a Feasibility Study to create a trail on the old towpath of the canal from Norry to Danville. 17857.org wants to hear residents’ input in both projects. If unable to attend the meeting, additional information is available at www.17857.org.
