LEWISBURG — Transitions, formerly Susquehanna Valley Women in Transition, has been selected as an official partner of Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids, an annual giving program from Payless ShoeSource. Transitions was one of over 1,000 charitable agency applicants representing all 50 states in the United States, as well as Canada, Puerto Rico and 11 Latin American countries. Transitions will be distributing merchandise certificates for children’s shoes to the families that we serve.
Transitions is a crisis center that provides advocacy, empowerment and education to victims, survivors, families and communities to end patterns of violence and abuse. Transitions serves victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other serious crimes in Union, Snyder and Northumberland counties. “We are thrilled to once again partner with Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids to ensure that the children who we help receive a new, properly fitting pair of shoes this holiday season,” acting chief executive officer, Heather Over said.
This is the fifth year of the Payless GivesTM Shoes 4 Kids program. Although studies show that properly fitting shoes are important for children’s health and development, a striking number of children don’t own a pair of shoes that fit. We are working to remedy that here in Pennsylvania.
By helping families who struggle to provide their children with basic essentials on a daily basis, Transitions, in partnering with the Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids program, hopes to relieve some of the stress parents feel during the holidays and bring joy to as many children as possible.”
