MIFFLINBURG — The Union County Bicentennial Committee will be hosting a table with its Craftsmens’ Series and Bicentennial memorabilia during the Christkindl Market, Dec. 13-15 in the restored Elias Church near the Mifflinburg Cemetery at the corner of South Fourth Street and Quarry Road in Mifflinburg.
New to the Union County Bicentennial line will be white coffee mugs with the 1813-2013 logo, Bicentennial house banners/flags, an 1855 Union County Courthouse “Hometowne Collectable,” and traditional commemorative wooden nickels. These new items are in addition to the UCBC Craftmen’s Series items: especially woven queen-size and crib-size coverlets by Red Lion Weavers; hand forged and “marked” wrought iron utensils by Bill Clemens of New Columbia; a limited edition of reproduction tin berry buckets by Scott Baylor patterned on a piece by Hartleton tinsmith Samuel Bingman; hand thrown and marked pottery pitchers, mugs, spoon holders, colanders, and crocks by Bill Lynch of Penns Creek Pottery; special soap by Jessica Grill of Pompeii Street Soap Co.; candles in holiday colors by Patty Hess of Colonial Candecrafters; and marked wooden rolling pins and potato mashers by Pete Wertman of the Buffalo Valley Antique Equipment Association.
The display and sales area at the Elias Church will be open for visitors Thursday, Dec. 13 from 4:30 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
