LEWISBURG — Kidsburg is back in business.
The large playground on the southern side of Hufnagle Park reopened in December with the wrapup of a project to rebuild and reinforce the bank of Limestone Run, Borough Manager Chad Smith said.
Borough officials originally thought the playground might be shut down until February for the safety of children during the construction project, which involved large equipment such as backhoes.
All machinery is gone, and crews will return in April to finish the job, which Smith said is 93 percent complete. He said officials also want to get a feel for how vegetation is growing in the redone area and how stationary the new work remains.
Excessive damage to the rip rap, or stone, along the stream, also known as Bull Run, during the flood in fall 2011 meant large stones on the creek bed had to be reclaimed and reset.
