SUNBURY — Banners picturing veterans and active duty servicemen and women with ties to Northumberland County will be lining Front and Market streets in Sunbury again in 2013. Sunbury’s Revitalization Inc. is accepting information and photos for the banners as well as banner sponsors.
The Hometown Veteran banners will honor those with roots in Northumberland County. Banners will be on display from May through November and will include the veteran’s name, picture, branch, honors and era of service. In November the banners will be cleaned and returned to the veteran or his or her family.
Banner sponsorships are $200 each. Businesses, organizations, families or individuals are welcome to be a sponsor and the sponsor’s name will also be included on the banner.
In addition to being available at the SRI and mayor’s offices in Sunbury Municipal Building at 225 Market St., forms for both sponsorships and to submit photos will be available at the following locations:
- Northumberland County Veterans Affairs Office at 399 S. Fifth St., Sunbury;
- American Legion Post 201 at 611 Market St., Sunbury;
- VFW Thomas-Brill Post at 2 Shikellamy Road, Sunbury;
- Susquehanna Bank locations in Sunbury, Shamokin, Kulpmont, Mount Carmel, Milton and Pillow;
- Online at www.sripa.com
All forms and photos must be submitted to the SRI office prior to March 1. If someone cannot make it in, special arrangements can be made by contacting SRI. An unveiling ceremony is scheduled for May 4.
