LEWISBURG — Tax season is upon us and local public libraries in the area will have basic tax forms available for patrons. However, due to recent changes in the tax code, as part of the “fiscal cliff” legislation, many of those forms will arrive later than usual.
The IRS has not yet announced when taxpayers can begin filing 2012 tax returns and many of the publications and forms used are currently undergoing revisions based on new laws.
The following libraries will make these forms available as soon as they are received from the federal government — in Snyder County: Beavertown Library, McClure Community Library, Middleburg Community Library, and Rudy Gelnett Memorial Library in Selinsgrove; in Union County: Herr Memorial Library in Mifflinburg, Public Library for Union County in Lewisburg, and West End Library, Laurelton; in Northumberland County: Degenstein Community Library in Sunbury, Priestly Forsyth Memorial Library, in Northumberland, Milton Public Library, and Montgomery House/Warrior Run Area Public Library, McEwensville. Additional forms will be available to download from official state and federal websites, as well.
For more information on tax information available, contact your local public library or visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov.
