WILLIAMSPORT — On Oct. 20, Shady Brook Campground, 275 Campground Lane, Beavertown, sponsored a Chinese auction that was hosted at the Beavertown Fire Company.
According to David M. Mull, owner of the campground, the fundraiser was a huge success for the second annual event. Over 34,000 tickets were sold to approximately 235 bidders. The bidders had a selection of over 400 Items to choose from with almost all of the items donated from many local businesses, and a few from members of the community. In addition to the auction, the event included an apple butter boil event.
When the auction concluded, the Shady Brook Campground and its volunteers had collected over $2,000 to be donated to the Lycoming County SPCA to aid in the care and well being of the many animals that pass through their doors. Just before Christmas, the SPCA was presented with a check from the proceeds of the event.
Planning for the 2013 annual event is already taking place which will include a Dog Days Carnival being held on Sept. 7, and the Third-Annual SPCA Chinese Auction being held on Oct. 19.
