Gladys 'Jo' Breon, 73, Lewisburg

LEWISBURG -- Gladys Joanne "Jo" Breon, of Lewisburg, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, in Bradenton, Fla., where she spent the winter months with her husband, Gerald.

Gladys was born in Danville on Aug. 17, 1936, a daughter of the late Gladys M. (King) and Stan L. Wagner. On June 9, 1956, at Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church, she was united in marriage with her loving husband, Gerald R. Breon.

Jo was a 1956 graduate of Mifflinburg High School and always looked forward to her class reunions and lunches with "the girls."

Jo was formerly employed at Catherman's Candy in Lewisburg, and in 1974, she took to the road with Jerry in his 18 wheeler, traveling from coast to coast and sharing many adventures.

Retiring in 1988, she was always anxious to head south before the snow would fly. She loved walking, biking and being active in the social club in their retirement community.

An avid Penn State fan, she was always rooting for the blue and white no matter to what state her travels had taken her.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband of 53 years she is survived by her granddaughter, Malinda Jo West and her companion Josh Ruch of Milton, one grandson Benjamin Michael West of Montgomery; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Manuel Fachado of Del Haven, N.J., Joyce and C.R. Havens of Tucson, Ariz., Jeanne and Wallace Keefer of New Berlin, and Judy and Joseph May of Lewisburg; her mother-in-law Helen Mitchell of Selinsgrove; one brother-in-law and spouse, William and Julie Breon of Bradenton; two sisters-in-law and spouses, Janet and Glenn Troutman of Selinsgrove and Linda and Edwin Fisher of Lewisburg; her uncle and aunt, John and Ida Fallon of Johnstown; her cousin Darrell Wagner of Mifflinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by the following children, Jeffrey Shawn Breon in 1965, Vicki Jo Breon in 1969, Michael Scott Breon in 1974 and Cathy Ellen West in 1997.

A memorial with interment in Penns Creek Cemetery will be held at a later date.

The family is being served by Brown & Sons Funeral Home of Bradenton.

If so desired, donations in Jo's memory may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
