Calvin W. Rovenolt, 80, Watsontown

WATSONTOWN -- Calvin Woodrow Rovenolt, 80, of Milheim Road, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Kramm Health and Rehabilitation, Watsontown where he had been residing since January.

He was born Jan. 21, 1929, in Lewis Township, Northumberland County, a son of the late Milford L. and Louise M. (Funk) Rovenolt.

He was a 1946 graduate of Turbotville High School.

Calvin operated a dairy farm in rural Turbotville until 1978. Earlier in life, he worked at Montgomery Mills for a brief time. He was a school bus driver for the Warrior Run School District from 1959 until 1990, had worked for Turbot Township, was a former Lewis Township supervisor and had worked for Burns Security.

He was a past president of the Eastern Dairy Producers Co-op and an avid collector of Allis Chalmers tractors.

Calvin enjoyed bowling, hunting, playing bingo and crossword puzzles, but the times he spent with his family were most precious to him. He always put his family first.

He is survived by one daughter, Debra L. Rovenolt, of Watsontown; three sons and daughters-in-law, John C. and Debra M. Rovenolt, of Watsontown; Frederick L. and Lisa A. Rovenolt, of Selinsgrove, and Parry A. and Debra A. Rovenolt, of Turbotville; six grandchildren, Dusteen A. (Drew) Laudenslager, of Montoursville, J. Curtis (Jade) Rovenolt, of Chicago, Jace C. Rovenolt and his fiancée, Kristin Kilgus, of New Columbia, Nathan Daniel Rovenolt, of Selinsgrove, and Brandon William and Olivia Elizabeth Rovenolt, of Turbotville; one great-granddaughter, Xahlia L. Rovenolt, of New Columbia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl S. and Jessie Rovenolt, of Milton, and M. Lee and Pat Rovenolt, of Watsontown; one step-brother, Jim and Donna Moser, of Easton; one brother-in-law, Thomas and Mary Taylor, of Montgomery; his special friend, Thelma Mingle, of Milton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Calvin W. Rovenolt Jr., his step-mother, Dorothy Moser Rovenolt, one sister, Ruth Ann Taylor, and two-step-brothers, Robert and Jacob Moser.

Friends are invited to call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday followed by the funeral at 11, at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville, with Pastor Amelia Shivers officiating.

Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery, Paradise Road, Milton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the Warrior Run Area Fire Department, P.O. Box 8, Watsontown, PA 17777.
