NEW BERLIN " Martha Matilda Cornelius, 87, formerly of 191 Murray Lane, New Berlin, and a resident of Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, since Feb. 23, 2004, entered into rest at 8:37 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born in Middlecreek Township on July 28, 1922, a daughter of the late Ammon Jerome and Sarah Grace (Carl) Leitzel. Martha lived in West Virginia from 1951 until she moved to New Berlin in 1988.

She was employed at the Harry Hunt Garment Factory, New Berlin.

She attended the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, New Berlin.

Martha was active in the V.F.W. in both West Virginia and New Berlin.

Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Donald M. and Martha Jane Leitzel, of Northumberland; two sisters-in-law, Wilma S. Leitzel, of New Berlin and Gail Sherman, of Idaho; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by one sister, D. Mary Snook, and five brothers; Carl A., Marvin R., Robert H., Kenneth D., and William D. Leitzel.

A memorial service to celebrate Martha's life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 326 Market St., New Berlin.

Burial will be in the Dry Valley Cemetery, Winfield.
