MIDDLEBURG — Ethel Mae Straub, 77, of White Top Road, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday morning, March 7, 2013, at her home.
She was born Dec. 6, 1935, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Mabel V. Gemberling. On Feb. 22, 1964, she married Charles R. Straub who survives.
Ethel had been employed by Beavertown Silk Mill, Saylor Shirt factory, Par Knit Mills and retired in 1997 from Wood-Mode, Kreamer.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Troxelville where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and had been a member of the Lutheran Church Women.
Ethel enjoyed camping, crocheting, and working in her flower beds. She also enjoyed feeding the birds, especially the humming birds and cardinals which were her favorites.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Britton, of New Columbia; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Lamar Britton Jr., of Montana, Bruce and Deb Britton, of Linden, Scott and Lori Straub, of Troxelville, and Rodney and Gwen Straub, of Middleburg; seven grandchildren, Michael and Wendy Bowersox, Monty, Jason and Kelly Britton, and Jullian and Jordan Straub; three great-grandchildren; and her canine companion, Tasha Marie.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Dreese, of Caledonia, N.Y.
Friends and family will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Matthew D. Schuster, STS, presiding.
Burial will be in the Troxelville Union Cemetery.
