SUNBURY — Leona L. Dunkelberger, 84, of Sunbury, passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Red Cross, a daughter of the late Charles and Effie (Haas) Lebo. She was married to O. Kenneth Dunkelberger who preceded her in death in 2005.
Leona was a graduate of Herndon High School.
She was a member of the Irish Valley United Methodist Church.
Leona enjoyed quilting, sewing, travelling and in her younger years, horseback riding.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Oscar K. and Grace Dunkelberger, of Sunbury, and Steven L. and Penny Dunkelberger, of Trevorton; six grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Kevin, Jason and Kyle Dunkelberger, and Jamie Stiely; seven great-grandchildren, Nathan, Falynn and Rian Dunkelberger, Brittany, Alexxis and Zac Stieley, and Jaedon Mitchel; one sister, Reba Herb, of Herndon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Attinger and Bernice Swavely; and two brothers, Glenn and Dallas.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday.
Interment will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
In lieu of flowers, friends are urged to make donations in Leona’s memory to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
