LEWISBURG — Marion R. Gillespie, 82, of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Selinsgrove on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012.
She was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Negaunee, Mich., a daughter of the late Gustaf J. and Lydia M. Rast.
Marion was a graduate of Midland High School, Daytona Beach, Fla. She received her bachelor of arts degree in education from Florida State University and her master’s degree in math education from the University of Alaska.
Marion taught in the Florida school system for many years and in 1976 moved to Lewisburg. She taught numerous math courses at Lewisburg Area High School from 1976 to 1996, when she retired.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Capers McDonald, of Potomac, Md.; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Kiper, of Selinsgrove; three grandchildren, Emily Kiper, Michael Kiper and wife Sarah and Adam McDonald; one brother and sister-in-law, Gustaf J. and Jeanne Rast; and one sister, Esther O’Shant.
She was preceded in death by one son, James M. Kiper.
There will be no viewing, and all services will be private.
Arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
