SHAMOKIN — Shirley M. “MeMa” Croll, 86, of 4607 Lower Road, passed away on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.
She was born July 22, 1926, in Harrisburg, a daughter of the late Clarence S. and F. Marguerite (Zimmerman) Shearer. She was married to John M. Croll, who preceded her in death in 1964.
Shirley was a 1944 graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg.
She worked primarily in secretarial positions, her last position as secretary to Judge Barry F. Feudale until her retirement in 1993.
She was of Protestant faith.
Shirley enjoyed shopping with her grandchildren, crocheting, crossword puzzles, bingo and was an avid reader.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Gene Guyer, of Shamokin, with whom she had resided with; one son, Charles C. Shearer, of Trevorton; seven grandchildren, Tammy Schaffner and husband, Todd, of Dalmatia, Brandi Harris, of Trevorton, Heather Jordan and husband, Greg, of Trevorton, Nicole Schroyer and husband, Robert, of Trevorton, Christopher Shearer, of New Cumberland, Steven Shearer, of New Cumberland, and Jason Shearer, of Trevorton; four great-grandchildren, Austin Harris, Tricia Harris, Maddie Sue Jordan, Andrew Schroyer; one sister, Martha Jane Booth, of Camp Hill; and one niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Lahr in 2005; one granddaughter, Jennifer Lahr in 1977; and one sister, Marvel E. Starnes
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
