SHAMOKIN DAM — Arlene Louise (Hunt) Gamby, 86, of Shamokin Dam, entered paradise on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013.
She was born June 5, 1926, a daughter of the late Clarence O. and Pearl V. (Nolder) Hunt. Her crossing reunites her with her husband of 70 years, Richard V. Gamby Sr.
Arlene attended Northumberland schools.
As a young woman, she worked at the L’Aiglon sewing factory in Northumberland before staying home to raise a family. Arlene returned to work in later years as a seamstress. In 1989, she retired from Country Maid Sportswear, Shamokin Dam.
She enjoyed yearly vacations to the beach with friends and family, trips to Atlantic City and traveling with the “gang that followed the band.” Arlene had a huge heart and was always willing to help friends and family in need. She enjoyed recanting humorous stories of yesteryear.
Arlene loved and will be dearly missed by her family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard V. Jr. and Carolyn Gamby, of Tennessee; two daughters and son-in-law, Marla J. and Robert M. Koletar Sr., of Danville, and Jodell L. Kovaschetz, of Shamokin Dam, and former son-in-law, Peter P. Kovaschetz, of Carlisle; the lights of her life, her nine grandchildren, Gregory and Douglas Koteita, Kristine McMahan, Patrick Turner, Robert Jr. and Chad Koletar and Joshua, Benjamin and Nicholas Kovaschetz; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Yordy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arlene’s passing brings her together again with her two brothers, Clarence “Tuffy” and William Hunt, and one sister, Evelyn Busler.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by a celebration of her life at 2.
Interment will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Arlene’s memory may be made to Geisinger Hospice, 100 N. Academy Ave., Danville, PA 17822.
