Mary Frances Gilbert, 71, Lewisburg

LEWISBURG — Mary Frances Gilbert, 71, of 1120 Buffalo Road, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 13, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

A native of Montour County, she was born March 4, 1941, in Danville, a daughter of the late Robert and Eleanore (Stahl Aten) Fox. She was married for nearly 52 years to Jess R. Gilbert Jr., who survives.

Mary Frances was a graduate of Danville High School and attended Bloomsburg State College.

She retired from ConAgra after 33 years in quality control.

Mary Frances was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles and gardening and was an avid reader.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, one daughter, Carolyn Titus, of Lewisburg, and two sons, Sean Gilbert, of Lewisburg, and David Gilbert, of Sunbury; one granddaughter, Colleen Gilbert, of Northumberland; and five sisters, Miriam Weikel, Lois Northcott, Amy Reniewicz, Emily Skelly and Holly Vellekoop.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Jr. and Raymond Fox.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Donations in Mary Frances’ memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Funeral arrangements are by the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.
