ORANGEVILLE — Joseph Todd Parkes, 78, of 1818 Route 487, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children.
He was born July 17, 1934, in Philipsburg, a son of the late James and Julia (McCabe) Parkes. He was married for 48 years to the former Judy Lyons, who survives.
Todd was a 1952 graduate of Philipsburg High School and attended Lock Haven University. He was a veteran of the Air Force.
He was employed for 32 years by PPL as a meter installer first class, retiring in 1995.
Todd was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Bloomsburg.
He was an avid golfer at Rolling Pines Golf Course, Berwick.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Lynnda and Robert Sweppenheiser, of Ulster, and Diane Parkes, of Boise, Idaho; one son and daughter-in-law, Kerry and Amy Parkes, of Bloomsburg; grandchildren, Megan Sweppenheiser, Dominic Dumas, Luke and Madilyn Parkes; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Kolene Parkes, of Philipsburg; mother-in-law, Esther Lyons, of Bloomsburg; sister-in-law, Betty Parkes, of Levittown; and brother-in-law, Kenneth LeRoy Dingey, of Kittanning.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Alice Thomas, Ruth Mahute, Kathryn Keeler and Dolores Dingey, and three brothers, Paul, James and Donald Parkes.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church St., Danville, followed by a celebration of life at 11 with the Rev. Nancy Shank, rector of Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, Danville, officiating.
Burial will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
