MILTON — Donald Irvin Oberdorf, 74, of Milton, formerly of Central Falls, R.I. entered into rest at 3:55 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1938, in Mahoning Township, Montour County, a son of the late Lloyd I. Oberdorf and Sarah E. Bastian.
Donald proudly served in the United States Armed Forces.
He lived in Milton until the early 70s, when he then moved to Connecticut and finally to Rhode Island.
Donald did odd jobs at various places through the years.
Donald was a member of VFW, Post 602, Pawtucket, R.I.; AmVets, Post 33; Societe Jacques Cartier’s #4; American Legion Post #25; Pawtucket, R.I.; and the Greek Social Club, Pawtucket, R.I.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Jackson, and Dawn Majoria, both of Connecticut; one son, Donald Oberdorf Jr., of Connecticut; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Nancy and Dale Smith, of Milton, Carrie and Marlin Thomas, of Milton, and Joyce Tell, of Fulton, Miss.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Leonard and Alice Oberdorf, of Plainfield, Conn., and Lloyd Oberdorf Jr., of Montandon.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Weaver and Betty Simon.
Burial with full military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
