TREVORTON — The beautiful soul of Jared James Wood passed on from this world on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013.
Jared is survived by all four of his parents, Heidi Whitley and Jessica Trader, as well as David Wood and Nicholas Norris. Jared was a worldly guy who lived many places and traveled very often, and as such, he touched lives in these many places. Jared lived in Trevorton, where he was a recent graduate with the Class of 2012, Line Mountain High School. He graduated with honors in computers at Northumberland County Career & Technology Center. Jared loved his friends and his teammates on the Line Mountain football and basketball teams. He was a kind and considerate person who only wanted peace and happiness for everyone around him. Jared’s smile and sense of humor will be sadly missed.
Jared leaves behind a very large and loving family, including his great-grandmother, Gertrude Chase, of Absecon, N.J.; fraternal grandparents, Eloise and Joseph Wood, of Hammonton, N.J,; and maternal grandparents, Joan Whitley, of Tremont, Pa., and Henry and Carol Whitley, of Wagener, S.C. He also leaves behind an Aunt Suzanne Midgette and Melissa Sherman, an Uncle Thomas Whitley and Sarah Carl, an Aunt Joey Carmen and Uncle Ed Carmen and an Uncle Fred Wood. Cousins include Erika, Alexandra, Brenden, Serenity, Jada, Kaili, Kaya, Julianna, Gianna, Brittany and Megan. Jared also brought a joy and light into the life of his girlfriend, Sara Reed.
A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Mountainside Assembly of God, 1900 Trevorton Road, Coal Township, 847-6696. All are welcome to attend to share their wonderful and happy memories of Jared. This celebration will be a joyful remembrance of Jared’s life, so feel free to bring pictures and anything you wish to share within his world.
Flowers can be sent directly to the church between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday.
Donations can be made to the family at the service to offset the cost of his arrangements. Any additional funds will be donated to the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at Geisinger for juvenile diabetes research.
