MILTON — Timothy A. Gorman, 79, formerly of Milton, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland, where he had been residing the past two years.
Born Nov. 24, 1933, in West Milton, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Agnes A. (Holahan) Gorman.
A Milton merchant, he was the proprietor of “The Square Deal” store and gas station on South Front Street in Milton for many years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a skilled trap-shooter and won the PA State Trap Shooting Championship earlier in his life.
He was a Golden Eagle member of the National Rifle Association; a member of the Norry Gun Club and the Buffalo Valley Archery Club.
Timothy was very proud of his Irish heritage and the “Gorman” family name which dated back into the 15th century.
Surviving are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra A. and Barry Page, of Turbotville; Patricia M. Gorman, of Sunbury, Belinda S. and James M. Stefl, of Milton; and Lisa R. Wetzel, of Sunbury; one son, Bryan A. Gorman, of Loganton; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Freeman Shemory; two brothers, James and Adam Gorman; and two sisters, Georgianna Strickland and MaryAlice Hubert.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services held publicly.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory may be made to one’s own favorite charity.
The family is being assisted by Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville, with their arrangements. www.wfbrooksfuneralhome.com.
