Samuel J. Noecker, 74, Northumberland

NORTHUMBERLAND — Samuel J. Noecker, 74, of Northumberland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at his residence.

He was born April 10, 1938, in Herndon, a son of the late Dorothy J. Leitzel and William H. Noecker. He was married to the former Lucille Witmer, who survives.

Samuel was a veteran of the Army.

He was employed as a welder for Chicago Bridge and Iron, in Newcastle, Del.

Samuel was a member of the National Transit Boilermaker Union, and the Northumberland No.1 Fire Company.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by four sons, Glen A. Leitzel, of Danville, Dale E. Leitzel, of Herndon, Keith A. Leitzel, of Pillow, and Lynn A. Leitzel, of Sunbury; three sisters, Shirley Shell, of Carsonville, Jean Noecker, of Sunbury, and Betty Kelly, of Northumberland; and two brothers, Richard Noecker, of West Cameron and Robert Noecker, of Trevorton.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Noecker in 1987 and Steven Noecker in 2010; one brother, William Noecker in 2011; and one sister, Arlean Noecker in 1936.

A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, followed by the funeral at 11, at the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, with the Rev. Robert Barner officiating.

Interment will take place in the Riverview Memorial Park, Halifax.
