RICHFIELD — Ethel M. Spade, 86, of McAlisterville, died at 5:35 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the Richfield Senior Living and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born March 18, 1926, in McConnellsburg, Fulton County, a daughter of the late Percy and Mabel (Eichman) Hood. On Sept. 16, 1942, she married Paul L. Spade, with whom she shared nearly 65 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2007.
Ethel was a member of Turkey Valley United Methodist Church, Millerstown.
In addition to helping her husband on their farm, she was at one time employed by Maple Lawn Associates and later by the Richfield Shirt factory, before retiring from the East Salem Manufacturing Co. in 1988.
She is survived by her children, one son and daughter-in-law, Robert P. and Nancy Spade, of McAlisterville, and two daughters and one son-in-law, Carol Brosius, of Mount Pleasant Mills, and Brenda and Kenneth Bassler, of McAlisterville; one brother, Richard Hood, and one sister, Marian Foltz, both of Richfield; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald, Norman and Harold Hood, and one son-in-law, John Brosius.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Brown Funeral Home Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Jerald Knouse officiating.
Interment will follow in Richfield Union Cemetery, Richfield.
