NORTHUMBERLAND — Marlin J. Trego, 83, of Northumberland, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg. His family expresses to RiverWoods its appreciation for the wonderful care he received there.
He was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Sunbury, a son of the late Charles and Anna (Schreffler) Trego. He was married to the former Lillian Boyer, who preceded him in death in 2000.
He graduated from Sunbury High School in 1947 and received a certificate from ICS in construction engineering. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard and later with the Army as a sergeant first class in Korea with the 176th Field Artillery during the Korean War.
He formerly was employed by Chet Geiser, Sunbury; F.W. Woolworth Co. as a job foreman; John Thatcher & Son as a job superintendent for 28 years; and last by Quandel Group as a job superintendent for 10 years.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Sunbury; a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters of America, Local 76; and a life member of the Americus Hose Company, Sunbury, American Legion Post 44, Northumberland, the Bartley Gap Gun Club, the Norry Gun Club and the North Branch Boat Club.
He is survived by one son, Glenn A. Trego, of Chambersburg; one daughter, Brenda K. Jaworski, of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Krista, Danielle, Melissa and Katie; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Gabriel, Lucas, Zachary, Karmeer, Caleb and Jaelyn; and one brother, Robert C. Trego, of Middletown.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Michael.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in United Lutheran Cemetery at Wolf’s Crossroads.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the Salvation Army.
Arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
