McCLURE — Leroy G. Wray, 88, formerly of McClure, passed away at 6:38 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
He was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Wagner, a son of the late George D. and Mona (Krick) Wray. He married the former Clarissa D. Lepley, who preceded him in death in 2004.
Leroy attended McClure area schools.
Earlier in life, he was a farmer in Douglasville, and he owned and operated his own saw mill in Wagner. He also worked for Firestone Tires in Pottstown as a tire builder for 30 years, retiring in 1980.
Leroy attended Wagner United Methodist Church, McClure, and was a member of the American Legion, McClure, the Coon Hunters Club and the Decatur Sportsman’s Club.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by four children, Doris Wray, of Mifflintown, Ruth Ann Wray, of Lewistown, Gordon Wray, of Pottstown, and Gwendolyn Sabol, of Pottstown; three grandchildren, Barb Shotzberger, of Lewistown, Erika Wray, of Stowe, and Jason Wray, of West Chester; three great-grandchildren, Wilbur Shotzberger, Tiffany Shotzberger and Haley McDonald; and one brother, Norman Wray, of West Chester.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, where the funeral will follow at 11.
Burial will follow in McClure Union Cemetery.
