SUNBURY — Frederick F. Hontz, 83, of Sunbury, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at ManorCare Health.
He was born Aug. 17, 1929, in Shickshinny, a son of the late Freas W. and Josephine E. (Peters) Hontz.
Fred served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He was employed as a welder for ACF Industries, Inc. until he retired.
Fred loved the outdoors, going hunting, and going to the cabin.
He is survived by one son; four sisters, Naomi F. Hockenbrough, Arlene A. Knepp, Lois L. Wood, and Inez B. Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Donald, Roy, Russell, Homer, Freas, Paul, and Carl.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of his family.
