WATSONTOWN — Patricia Lee (Teufel) Shanahan, 60, of Watsontown, transitioned from this life to the next on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Pat was a daughter of Geraldine (Bennage) Teufel, of Lewisburg, and the late Lee M. Teufel.
She was a 1970 graduate of Warrior Run High School and a graduate of the University of California with a bachelor of arts degree in early childhood education. She was a veteran of the Air Force, where she served as an air traffic controller.
At the time of her passing, Pat was employed as a phlebotomist at Evangelical Community Hospital. Before working at the hospital, Pat was a teller for Turbotville National Bank.
She was a member of Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, Milton. As a lover of people, she especially enjoyed children and frequently provided childcare and nanny services at her church. She participated in and facilitated several support groups for women and abuse victims.
In addition to her mother, Pat is survived by five children, Robyn Shanahan, of Williamsport, Erica McCann and husband John, of Williamsport, Russell Shanahan and wife Esther, of Blandon, Jamie Shanahan, of Watsontown, and Rebecca Shanahan, of Lancaster; their father, Thomas F. Shanahan, of Williamsport; two grandchildren, Ian and Sean McCann; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Natalie Teufel, of Schnecksville; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lois Parde, of Dillsburg, and Joy and Gene Newswanger, of Kempton.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by the funeral at 11, at Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, 2985 Broadway Road, Milton, with the Rev. David Martino officiating.
Burial will follow in Beaver Run Mennonite Cemetery, Turbotville.
Funeral arrangements are by the Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown.
