WATSONTOWN — Marvin E. Betz, 80, of Warrior Run Manor, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Turbotville, a son of the late G. Warren and Alberta (Snyder) Betz.
Early in his life, Marvin drove milk truck and worked for the Philco Company. He was a self-employed contractor working throughout Lycoming County and surrounding areas until his retirement in late 1998.
He was a lifelong woodworker always liking a challenging project. Marvin used his creativity in making furniture and many other items for family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and playing cards. He loved winter snow tubing, summer boating on the river and picnics with his family and friends.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, LaCinda and Jeffrey Coup, of Milton and Suzanne and Gary Mutschler, of Newnan, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jolene Betz, of Watsontown and Douglas and Robin Betz, of Nisbet; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marie Welliver, of Turbotville and Irene and Richard Hagerman, of Fort Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren, Dirk Metzger, Dana Metzger, Amy Casey, Brian Mutschler, Alicia Betz, Nathan Betz, Kiersten Betz and Kyle Betz; four great-grandchildren, Landon, Avery, Emma and Annabelle; and beloved friend, Gail Felix, of Watsontown.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Betz.
In keeping with Marvin’s wishes there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held in the Turbotville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
The family suggests contributions in Marvin’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society, Central Susquehanna Unit, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
