MILLHEIM — Ethel Louise “Jackie” Dimmick Henderson, 81, of 120 Coburn Road, passed from this life at her home on Saturday, March 16, 2013.
She was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Danville. Jackie was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel (Burch) Dimmick.
Jackie was working part-time at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville when she graduated from Danville High School in 1949, where she designed the Danville Ironman marquee.
On Dec. 1, 1949, Jackie married Ire E. Wildsmith. Jackie was again employed at Geisinger Medical Center as a desk clerk in the department of obstetrics and gynecology from 1953 to 1959. On June 6, 1959, she married Richard M. Henderson, who preceded her in death July 28, 2009.
Jackie was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim, where she sang in the choir, participated in the hand bell choir, at various times taught Sunday school and served on numerous committees.
From 1978 to 1994, she was a volunteer emergency medical technician with the former East Centre Ambulance Association. She also was a member of the board of directors and was an advanced first aid instructor. In 1993, Jackie received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for humanitarian services rendered from the Lion Club International Foundation. For a number of years, she helped with the blood pressure clinic and the baby clinic at the Millheim Outreach Center and also assisted at various Red Cross blood drives in the area.
Jackie is survived by one son, Donald C. Henderson, of Bellefonte; two grandsons, Brian Wildsmith, of Howard, and Thomas Hosterman, of Harrisburg; five great-grandchildren; and a very dear friend, Angelo Buffone, of Berwick.
