Joseph W. Girton, 59, Sunbury

SUNBURY — Joseph W. Girton, 59, of 239 Lenker Ave., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at his home.

He was born March 7, 1953, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late William and Catherine (Brown) Girton. On Aug. 17, 1974, he married the former Debra L. Buckles, who survives.

Joseph formerly was employed as a bus driver for the Selinsgrove, Lewisburg and Shikellamy school districts.

He was a member of the New Berlin American Legion.

Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Sonia L. and Douglas Stamm, of Hummels Wharf, Jennifer A. and Keith Zeigler, of Shamokin Dam, and Danielle S. Girton and her companion, Justin R. Finfinger, of Sunbury; one son, Keith Young, of Lamar; 11 grandchildren, Nathan, Jonathan, Jamie, Erica, Preston, Austin, Dawson, Carson, Andrew, Caroline and Cheyenne; four brothers, David and William Girton, both of Sunbury, Darry Reichley, of Watsontown, and Darwin Girton, of McClure; and two sisters, Irene Girton, of Sunbury, and Wendy Gross, of Berwick.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, James Sanders, and one brother, Roger.

Friends will be received from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by a memorial service at 4.
