Sherry M. (Forsht) Hammel, 37, McClure

McCLURE — Sherry M. (Forsht) Hammel, 37, of McClure, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at her residence after a two year battle with colon cancer.

She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late John and Joyce (King) Forsht. On June 2, 2007, she married Robert S. Hammel who survives.

Sherry was a 1992 graduate of Altoona High School.

was employed by Walmart.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure, where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and drove the school van for the Altoona School District.

Sherry enjoyed spending time with children.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Matthew, Damian, Billy and Robbie Hammel; one daughter, Larissa Hammel, at home; one brother, Ronnie Forsht, of Williamsport; two sisters, Brandy Ronan and Bonnie Mishock, both of Altoona; and one cousin, Nancy Dunn and her husband, Bill.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata, with Pastor Elizabeth Hess, officiating.

The committal will be in Grandview Cemetery.

The family requests that contributions in Sherry’s memory be made to the family, c/o Bob Hammel, 12 W. Specht St., McClure, PA 17841.
