DANVILLE — Beatrice S. “Bea” Erdman, of The Meadows, formerly of 812 Avenue G, Riverside, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Rush Township, Northumberland County, a daughter of the late Jeremiah S. and Catherine (Yeager) Bassett.
She graduated from Danville High School.
She was employed by Woolworth’s in Biloxi, Mississippi while her husband served his country during World War II. Bea also was employed by W.T. Grant and the Dora Dale Shop in Danville.
She was an active member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church Riverside, where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher for more than 60 years.
Bea enjoyed her family, golf, reading and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending her time reading the Scriptures.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert C. Erdman on Sept. 27, 2002. They were married March 25, 1942.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Earl T. and Rosemary Erdman, of Hamburg N.Y. and Lee E. and Nancy Erdman, of Tucson Ariz.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Herman, of Sunbury; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Alvin, Clarence, Russell and Leonard Carl Bassett; and one sister, Isabelle Fleming.
Relatives and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church Riverside, followed by a Celebration of her life at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Dr. Donald N. Hurley officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove United Methodist Cemetery in Paxinos.
