LEWISBURG — Ernest A. Klock, 89, of Lewisburg, formerly of Trevorton Road, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, in the presence of his loving children.
He was born May 21, 1923, in Trevorton, a son of the late William and Maude (Lesher) Klock. On Nov. 30, 1946, in Zion Lutheran Church, Trevorton, he married the former Hilda M. Bellis who preceded him in death on Sept. 8, 2006.
Ernest was a 1942 graduate of Trevorton High School. Upon graduation, he entered the Civilian Conservation Corp. until he enlisted in the Army. In March of 1943, while serving with Company A. 20th Tank Battalion Armored Division, he earned the grade of sergeant leading as a tank commander in combat in France, Belgium, Holland, Austria and Germany. Ernest served as an honor guard for General George Patton.
Ultimately, Ernest made a career as a real estate broker and sales agent for Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance.
Ernest was a devout member of the Lutheran church. He served many years on church councils and organized many church activities. He was a member of the Shamokin Lodge 255 Free and Accepted Masons, the Trevorton American Legion Post 92, the Trevorton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7813, the Trevorton Senior Action Center and the Zerbe Township Rod & Gun Club.
Ernest was a devout husband and father. His greatest pleasure was having family gatherings and attending his grandchildrens and great-grandchildrens activities. He enjoyed attending sporting events, traveling, reading, nature and greeting people he knew and loved during his daily activities.
He is survived by two daughtes and sons-in-law, Joan and Clarence “Buddy” Bixler, of Mifflinburg, and Jean and Craig Huntzinger, of Millersburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Francine “Tee” Klock, of Trevorton; eight grandchildren, Reginald, Gilbert and Ronald Bixler, Jessica Vespe and husband, William, Jennifer Wertz and husband, Michael, Matthew Huntzinger, Lee Ann Gephart and husband, Paul, and Edward Klock; 14 great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Olive Underkoffler and Violet Trythall.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, 601 W. Market St., Trevorton, with the Rev. Frederick Faust officiating.
Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

Funeral arrangements are by the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.
