LEWISBURG — Charles A. Danowsky, 76, of Crossroads Drive died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.
Born in Kelly Township, Union County, on March 19, 1936, he was a son of the late Daniel and Verna (Snyder) Danowsky. He was married to the former Nancy Lilley; his death breaks a marital union of 57 years.
Charlie was a 1954 graduate of the Milton High School and had worked as a welder and millwright for ACF in Milton.
He also was a farmer for 35 years and had served in the PA Army National Guard for seven years.
He enjoyed hunting, having breakfast at Country Cupboard, and going to flea markets and farm sales.
He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Lewisburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard Danowsky, of Lewisburg, and Jeffrey and Ann Danowsky, of Bossier City, La.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jim Rein, of West Milton, and Lori and Greg Hummel, of Lewisburg; seven grandchildren, Jason Danowsky, Charles Danowsky, Corey Danowsky, Kelly Rein, Eric Hummel, Emily Hummel, and Stewart Danowsky; three brothers, Wayne Danowsky, of Harrisburg, Harold Danowsky, of Lewisburg, and Franklin Danowsky, of Lewisburg; and two sisters, Charlotte Hartranft, of New Columbia, and Marlene Baker, of Lewisburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Arlen Danowsky; and three sisters, Evelyn Kratzer, Phyllis Snyder, and Eleanor Miller.
Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, followed by the funeral at 7 p.m. with his pastor the Rev. James Cope officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions in Charlie’s name to be made to the SUN Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 232, Northumberland, PA 17857.
