MIFFLINBURG — Barbara Irene Hauck, 58, of 1296 Mountain Road, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at her home.
She was born Jan. 20, 1955, in Lewisburg, a daughter of Harry E. Ammon Sr., and the late Irene M. (Klingler) Ammon who died Dec. 22, 2012. On June 11, 1977, she married William E. Hauck who survives. Together they celebrated 35 years of marriage.
Barbara was a 1972 graduate of Lewisburg High School and a 1976 graduate of the Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing earning a degree as a registered nurse.
She previously worked at the former Laurelton State Hospital. Much of Barbara’s time was spent raising her family and with her children.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, New Berlin, where she was active in the church choir and other committees. She volunteered with fundraisers for her sons many involvements as they grew up as well as the American Red Cross.
Barbara was a great caretaker for her mother. She enjoyed walking her dogs every morning. Barbara loved nature and the outdoors, including cross country skiing, hiking and camping. She was also fond of flowers, gardening and arts and crafts.
Surviving in addition to her father and husband are three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith M. and Michelle Hauck, of Elizabethtown, Kevin N. and Tara Hauck, of Gilbertsville, and Kyle W. and Megan Hauck, of Lewisburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Harry E. Jr. and Sherelyn Ammon, of Reading; one sister and brother-in-law, Wendy H. and David Testa, of Purcellville, Va.; and one granddaughter, Violet Irene Hauck.
She was predeceased by a twin brother, William Harry Ammon; and one sister, Nancy Lee Ammon.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 326 Market St., New Berlin, where the funeral will be held at 11, with her pastor, the Rev. Dawn Marie Meier officiating.
Burial will follow in New Berlin Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Union County Unit, 57 Reitz Blvd. Suite 102, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 326 Market St., New Berlin, PA 17855.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
