William R. Ale, 91, Milton

MILTON — William R. Ale, 91, of Laidacker Road, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Milton, a son of the late Clark A. Sr. and Mary V. (Thomas) Ale. He was married for 38 years to the former Ruth E. Schneider who preceded him in death on May 1, 1986.

William was a 1938 graduate of the Milton High School and served in the Army during World War II.  

He was a long time member of the United in Christ Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8206, Turbotville and the American Legion Post 303, Watsontown. He was a past post commander of VFW Post 2562 in Bethesda, Md, and past Maryland State President of the Military Order of Cootie.

William enjoyed dancing and hunting in his earlier years.

He is survived by one brother, Donald Ale, of Muncy; and one sister, Arlene Simms of Rockville, Md.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clark and Robert Ale; and three sisters, Kathryn Baker, Betty Steese and Jean Walker.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton,

Burial with military honors will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Muncy, with the Rev. John E. Lee officiating.
