TROXELVILLE — Martha M. Stehr, 92, formerly of Troxelville Road, passed away late Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at RiverWoods Nursing Home in Lewisburg.
She was born Dec. 31, 1920, in Pitman, a daughter of the late Franklin and Sarah (Snyder) Hepler. On June 1, 1946, she married Kermit P. Stehr who preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2010.
Martha attended the Church School in Pitman.
She worked during World War II at a sewing factory in Millersburg helping with the war effort and later helped her husband Kermit with the family fruit and vegetable farm which they owned and operated for 33 years before moving to Troxelville in 1979.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, Pitman and attended St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Beavertown.
Martha enjoyed quilting, playing cards, gardening and going to visit the Hershey Gardens every year.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Gayle Stehr, of Beavertown and Peter and Mary Lou Stehr, of Omaha, Neb.; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Mike Wiest, of Fredericksburg; seven grandchildren, Jared Stehr and wife Jacqueline Crine, Jessica Stehr and husband Andrew Chen, Margaret Sova, and husband Daniel, Robert Stehr, Catherine Stehr, Laura Moyer and husband, Lee, and Bret Wiest and wife, Laura; four great-grandchildren, Kenton and Jocelyn Stehr and Peighton and Mason Moyer; two brothers, Franklin and Peter Hepler, both of Pitman; and one sister, Ruth Brock of Greenville, S.C.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse, Raymond and Irvin Hepler, and one sister, Betty Finney.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Alice Rauch officiating.
Burial will follow in the Zion Evangelical Congregational Church Cemetery, Pitman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Martha’s memory may be made to RiverWoods Benevolent Care Fund, 3201 River Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
