SUNBURY — On Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., Eileen passed from this life into the arms of her Lord.
She was a resident of the Skilled Care Unit at Sunbury Hospital for three years.
She was born on June 21, 1925, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Walter and Hattie (Mulliner) Zeiders. On June 29, 1946, she married John R. Aurand who preceded her in death on March 3, 2002. At the time of his passing, they had celebrated 55 years of marriage. They were the first couple to be married at the Tabernacle on the Island by the Rev. Robert Lancaster and is now known as Sunbury Bible Church.
She was a graduate of the Sunbury High School Class of 1943. In her younger years, prior to her marriage, she worked at Newberry’s on Market Street.
For many years, Eileen and Mrs. Wesley Trout had a Good News Club at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church on Mile Hill Road, Sunbury.
Eileen is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Elizabeth Aurand and Walter and Karen Aurand, all of Sunbury; one son-in-law, Viktor Kusin, of Sunbury; three granddaughters, Joy M. Aurand, of Kirkland, Wash., Janice M. Aurand, of Hong Kong, China, and Melissa E. Trego, of Jenkintown, Pa.; two grandsons and their wives, Justin and Michele Aurand, of Selinsgrove and Richard and Ginger Aurand, of Northumberland; three great-grandsons, Logan, Lucas and Cole Aurand; and one great-granddaughter, Kendall Aurand. Also surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, John and Joy Zeiders, of Northumberland, and many nieces and nephews too numerous to count.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lucinda “Cindy” Kusin, on May 12, 2011; and brother and sisters, Lily Hort, Rachel Watson Douty, Joan Swank, Hattie Koch, Walter Zeiders Jr., Shirley Bowes, Anna Mordan, Hazel Beers, James Zeiders, and Jean Zeiders.
She had a great love of family and enjoyed having her children, grandchildren, and other family around her table for a meal. Eileen will be missed by those who knew and loved her until we meet again.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Sunbury, followed by the funeral service at 2.
Burial will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
